HOUSE RULES

Welcome to our off-grid Tiny House at Hounds Run Vineyard. Please read through the following house rules and instructions so it will function at peak efficiency for the duration of your stay.

Keys & Gates

A set of keys has been provided for the duration of your stay. One key is for the Tiny House and the other is for the front gate. Please observe country rules when moving through gates which is ALWAYS ‘leave a gate the way you found it’. If the front gate is open when you head out for the day please leave it open, if it is closed and locked, please lock it behind you observing exactly how the chain and locks are connected. There are two locks at the gate, wrap the chain around both gates and attach the brown lock to the silver lock. (the silver lock belongs to the power company so they have access in an emergency so it is essential that both locks can be used to access the property). Please do not use the chain with the clip to lock the gate.

Power

Our Tiny House is completely off-grid, meaning it runs purely on solar power with the comfort of a gas heater for the winter months. It is very well insulated and ‘tiny’ with double glazed windows so the house will retain the heat/cool air for long periods of time, and it doesn’t take long to warm up or cool down. We ask guests to be mindful of their energy consumption, by taking showers during daylight hours, turning all lights, ceiling fan, heater and/or air conditioner OFF before leaving the Tiny House (even for a day trip). Please do not run the air conditioner overnight, or you may find the fridge and water pump will not operate in the morning. Please check taps are turned off and the pump is not running continuously as this will also drain the power. Please try not to run all electrical items at once.

Finally, please DO NOT attempt to charge your electric vehicle at the Tiny House, yes this has happened before!! It will blow the inverter, replacement charge $3000+.

Rubbish Bins

There are three bins provided in the tiny house. One in the toilet, this is for ALL toilet paper, sanitary items and general waste (please do not put toilet paper in the toilet). Under the sink you will find two small bins. One is purely for compost. The other is for general waste. Please use the bins outside (next to the tank) for all recycling. Before you check-out please remove all rubbish bins from inside and place it in the outside bins. We will remove the compost at the end of your stay.

BBQ & Gas Bottles

Whilst we try to ensure there is enough gas in every bottle, they do run out. If either gas bottle (BBQ or House) runs out during your stay, please call Hadyn 0409 964 855 or Lucy 0425 725 247 and we’ll arrange a new one immediately. The BBQ is to be left clean after your visit, failure to do so will incur an additional cleaning fee of $25.

Board Games

For your enjoyment there is a selection of board games inside the bench seat next to the bed.

Complimentary Items

We want to make sure you enjoy your stay and so have supplied locally made Five Ducks Farms Jam, bread from the Great Western Granary or Blue Wren Bakery in Pomonal, milk, tea, coffee and other basic pantry supplies. Please take left over bread and jam home with you or dispose of it in the bins.

Shoes

We would like to keep the Tiny House as fresh and clean as possible for as long as possible and for this reason, shoes are not to be worn inside, please use the shoebox on the deck for your shoes, especially if they’re muddy.

Smoking

Strictly no smoking inside the house, an additional cleaning fee of $200 will be charged if you are found to have smoked inside.

Cleaning

Whilst we charge a cleaning fee, we expect the Tiny House to be left in a tidy condition with rubbish and recycling taken outside, food waste disposed of and all dishes cleaned and put away. The dishwasher should also be left empty before you check-out. The short (30min) cycle will work perfectly if you are short on time.

Breakages, Damage & Loss

As a guest, you are responsible for any damage or breakages to the property. Please notify us immediately of any such occurrence so we can come to an arrangement for replacement or repair. If keys are lost, you will be charged a replacement fee of $20.

Fires & Fire Pit

Strictly NO FIRES are to be lit in the warmer months October through to April (bush fire season), subject to change, depending on the conditions. Candles are prohibited.

For the cooler months a fire pit has been supplied for your use. Please do not move the fire pit. Fires are only permitted from May through to October. A supply of firelighters, kindling and firewood has been made available for your use. Please ask us if you require more wood.

Our Neighbours

Next door is home to a horse stud. They are very friendly and you are welcome to pat the horses over the fence, however please do not climb the fence or walk into our neighbours property. They have kindly asked us that guests DO NOT feed the horses as this can disrupt their diets.
